LEARNING TO LISTEN

LEARNING TO LISTEN

Recently we moved to a house in St Heliers, Auckland. We are renting this property while we are waiting for our new home to be built. In the morning we wake up to the beautiful sound of native 'Tui Birds' singing from a tree close by. It is a unique sound, that still attracts my attention, and releases in me, praise and thanksgiving for God's wonderful creation.
One challenge of the Christian life, is to distinguish the unique voice (sound) of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can be ignored in many Christian's lives, but yet without Him we can never know the Fullness of Christ.
In Isaiah 11.2 we read, 'The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of Wisdom, and understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.' This scripture is prophetically speaking of the Holy Spirit's relationship with Jesus, but it does help us to understand and discern the ministry of the Spirit so it becomes easier to discern His voice. I pray that the voice of the Holy Spirit will continue to catch my attention, and I will never loose the wonder of His presence.
